Gaming Mondays: 3-5 p.m. Play the Wii or some board games. Bring your library cards to use the laptops. Be part of a Yu-Gi-Oh! club. Free fun for all teens.
Wednesday Family Time: This summer promises free fun and giggles for the whole family. July 8: Blast off with guests from the Kansas Cosmosphere. July 15: Explore with the gang from Wichita Exploration Place. July 22: Join the magical storyteller, The Big Red Clown. July 29: End the summer with those crazy Barnyard Puppets. All programs at 1:30 p.m.
Teen Thursday “Express Yourself”: Bring a friend, play a game, make a craft, or just hang out on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. Have library cards handy to use the laptops. Crafts scheduled include July 9: Illustrator Jesse Graber teaches drawing. July 16: Manga drawing with NPL's Kari Fischer. July 23: Make friendship bracelets.
Movies & More Saturdays: Teens are welcome to beat the heat with free movies, crafts, and gaming each Saturday from June 6 – July 25. Movies scheduled include July 11: Yes Man, July 18: Anime Saturday, and July 25: Twilight.
Learn, Share, Discuss Linux: The Newton Linux User’s Group (NLUG) will meet Wednesday, July 8, at 6:45 p.m. to share information and applications regarding this open source alternative to Microsoft Operating Systems. Meetings are free and open to all.
Third Tuesday Genealogy Worknight: Join others in the search for ancestor records on Tuesday, July 21, 7-8 p.m. Bring your questions or searches, make use of the Library’s resources, people knowledgeable in the field, as well as laptops for conducting online research.
Fourth Tuesday Photography: July 28, 7-8 p.m. Bring your camera, cord, manual, and questions to learn about digital photography. Cy Brown will present tips for close-focus photography, followed by time to practice, discuss and problem-solve. Laptops available or bring your own.
Embroider With Marilyn: Join Marilyn Swanson on Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. to learn to embroider, or just to sit and stitch with others. Bring your own supplies and meet at the table near the Large Print area.
Adopt-a-magazine: The Library invites patrons to pay for a magazine subscription for the Library. Contact the Library for possible titles to adopt.
