VITA: Volunteer Income Tax Assistance volunteers will assist low-to-moderate income taxpayers with basic tax returns through April 15 in the Bessmer Meeting Room during the following hours: 5:30- 8 p.m. Mondays; 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays; and 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturdays. Individuals will be served in order of sign-up. Sign-up sheets will be put out at 9 a.m. of each tax assistance day for that day only. Each individual must be present to sign up. Individuals must be at the east table in the Adult Department one-half hour before the scheduled starting time for that day’s session to hold their position in the queue. More information on items to bring is available from the library.

Remembering and Revisiting Erma: The Erma Bombeck Show, presented by Connie Penick and Dona Lancaster, live from the Dodge City Public Library on Tuesday, March 9, at 7 p.m. This live broadcast is free and open to the public.
Learn, Share, Discuss Linux: The Newton Linux User’s Group (NLUG) will meet Wednesday, March 10, at 6:45 p.m. to share information and applications regarding this open source alternative to Microsoft Operating Systems. Meetings are free and open to all.
Puppet Show: Spring break fun on Tuesday, March 16, at 10:30 a.m. Free fun for the whole family!
Third Tuesday Genealogy WorkNight: March 16, 7:00 p.m. Margaret Hermstein, Harvey County Register of Deeds, will give a free presentation on researching the history of land and houses. All are welcome.
Teen Book Bingo: Saturday, March 20, 3-5 p.m. When you're bored silly with Spring Break, come to the Library for free fun and games. Play for prizes: a gift certificate to Pages, and a hardcover set of Inheritance trilogy (Eragon).
Digital Photography Help: We will view a video by Nick Kelsh with basics to successful digital photography, brought to us by Gwen Neufeld. Gwen will then demonstrate digital scrapbooking. TALK Book Discussion: “Growing Up” is the topic of a four-part discussion series. Rachel Waltner Goossen of Washburn University will lead the third discussion of Mark Haddon’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time on Wednesday, March 24, at 7:00 p.m. Books for the series are made available by the Kansas Humanities Council and may be reserved at the Library.
Convert It: A videoconference with instructions for converting tapes and phonograph records to discs will be presented Friday, March 26, 9:30-11 a.m. This program is free and requires no registration.
Artist Phil Epp: Recently returned from the Art in Embassies program, Epp will present “From Kansas to Kazakhstan”, with photos illustrating his talk on Thursday, April 1, at 7:00 p.m.
Teen Gaming and More: Mondays from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. Bring library cards for laptop use, play card games, the Wii™, access online tutoring with HomeworkKansas, or just hang out.
Interested in knitting? All levels of experience are welcome to gather on Mondays at 7 p.m. to share patterns, ideas, and expertise.
Needlework With Marilyn: Join Marilyn Swanson on Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. to learn to embroider or quilt, or just to sit and stitch with others. Bring your own supplies and meet at the table near the Large Print area.
Friends Cart Sales: Used books are for sale each Monday and Wednesday at about 1:00 p.m. and the first Saturday of each month at about 10:00 a.m. for a couple of hours. Proceeds benefit the Library.
New! Learn a language: Mango Languages is an online language-learning system teaching actual conversation skills for a wide variety of languages.
New! Ancestry Library Edition is available when using computers inside the Library.
New! Testing Education and Reference Center: study for GED, college entrance exams, and more!
