Newton Public Library is Planning Phased Reopening

Excited to share this update! Staff are returning to the library building and preparing for a phased reopening.

The first phase will be to offer no-contact pickup of library items. Please stay tuned for more information.

For now, the NPL building is still closed, and physical books and DVDs are not circulating just yet. The dropbox is locked, so please continue to keep your library items at home. We appreciate your patience as we work to provide library services from the NPL facility while keeping both NPL staff and the public safe.

In the interest of public health and safety, Newton Public Library closed at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, due to COVID-19 and will remain closed until further notice.

Print books, DVDs and other physical items will no longer be circulated.

Returns are not being accepted. Late fees will not be charged. Patrons should keep all library items at home until further notice.

Newton Public Library’s “online branch” remains open at www.newtonplks.org. Patrons are invited to use their library cards to borrow ebooks, e-audiobooks, magazines and streaming movies through services such as the Sunflower eLibrary (accessed through Libby or Overdrive); Hoopla; Flipster; and State Library of Kansas Digital Book eLending.

More information on the library’s digital offerings is available at www.newtonplks.org.

Staff can be reached via email, library@newtonplks.org, and are happy to answer questions and assist with access to e-resources.
