Newton Public Library is pleased to announce that it has received a $1,000 grant from the Sher Klassen Neufeld Endowment Fund of the North Newton Community Foundation (NNCF). NNCF is an affiliate of Central Kansas Community Foundation.
The library will use the grant funds to purchase books for its ENLITE outreach service, which delivers books and audiobooks to the homes of North Newton and Newton residents.
Any resident aged 60-plus who has difficulty reaching the library is eligible for ENLITE deliveries. All residents of Newton and North Newton senior apartments, assisted living communities and healthcare facilities are eligible, regardless of age.
Books are selected by ENLITE staff members based on patron preferences. The library’s extensive large print collection is a key part of the project, offering a wide variety of books in every major genre.
“Homebound and assisted-living patrons in North Newton and Newton stay connected to their local library thanks to ENLITE,” said Dr. Cari Cusick, Newton Public Library director. “This service would not be possible without generous support from foundations such as the North Newton Community Foundation, and funds such as the Sher Klassen Neufeld Endowment Fund.”
